The poems and passages in The Blood of a Nation speak mostly from the voices that shall not speak cannot speak but as a haunting echo, echoes of those wars that have been fought, and in the twilight of events that occurred are still being fought today. Many questions in this book are pondered, aren't all wars an injustice against humanity? And yet, in the face of evil, there is the hope to promote justice, equality, and peace throughout the world by exercising humility even though humility has never been omnipotent
Joanne Monte has had her poems published in many literary journals including Poet Lore, The Raintown Review, Cerberus, Ancient Paths Literary Review, Poet, and others. She is the recipient of several awards, most notably, The John David Johnson Memorial Poetry Award, The Writer's Digest Award and the New Millennium Writings Award IV for Poetry. In 1999, the American Biographical Institute selected her as one of two thousand notable American women for her literary and humanitarian contributions.
