Publish Your Legal Advice Book

One of the best ways attorneys can market their law offices is by writing legal advice books. If you are an expert in a specific area of law, such as personal injury, DUI, social security disability, divorce, workers’ compensation, car insurance, or many other subjects, becoming a published author catapults you ahead of the competition. You’ll spend far less publishing a book than you spend for a Yellow Pages ad—and you’ll quickly learn that a book is a far more effective form of marketing. Many lawyers are intimidated about the prospect of writing a book, but Word Association will show you how you can do it easily, quickly, and affordably, guiding you every step of the way.

This is how the process works. First, of course, you have to write your book. For many people, lawyers included, this is an intimidating task. But it doesn't have to be. Don't start out by thinking of it as "writing a book," because it sounds so daunting that you may never get started. Instead, begin by putting together a list of the most Frequently Asked Questions about your topic. What are the main questions clients ask when they call you about their DUI problems or their personal injuries or divorces? Make a list of 10 or 12 questions and then sit down, pick one of those questions, and try to answer it in a few paragraphs. Use specific details and concrete examples to ground your general points. Avoid legal language. Instead, write as if you were talking to one person. The idea is to write in your own voice, so that your writing reflects your personality. If you can do this, you will establish a rapport with your reader, and earn his/her trust and respect. Shoot for about 600 to 800 words, which will come to two or three pages. When you've finished, Chapter One is in the bag. Now move on to your next FAQ. Spend a couple of hours every day for a week or two and you will complete a first draft of your book. Wait a day or two, then re-read it. No doubt you will find some glaring errors and some awkward writing, along with the usual typos, grammatical glitches, etc. You may even want to rewrite parts of it. But do not fall into the trap of endless revision. Do not try to be a perfectionist, because if you do you will never finish your book. You'll simply waste a lot of time.

The reason you don't have to agonize over every last detail is that one of our editors will do that for you. That's right. Every legal advice book is carefully edited. Our editor will make sure that all of the i's are dotted and the t's are crossed, that word choice, diction, grammar, and spelling all conform to excellent writing standards. And if our editor senses that organization and flow could be improved, we will make suggestions on how you might improve it. In addition, our editor will create a table of contents, can suggest chapter headings, and could even suggest a better title and sub-title than the one you have. Finally, we will write back cover text and a press release for your book.

After the editing phase of the project is complete, your book will move to the design phase, where one of our graphic designers will create a professional cover and an attractive interior. You will be sent proofs to review. It isn't unusual for proofs to go back and forth several times until you are ready to sign off on a "final proof," giving us the go-ahead to print your book. In addition to the printed book we also create an e-Book for you, as well as an amazon "kindle" edition.

Ben Glass, author of Buying Car Insurance, Five Deadly Sins That Can Wreck Your Injury Claim, Everything the Marketing Vultures Understand about Marketing Your Law firm, and Why Most Medical Malpractice Victims Never Recover a Dime:

Dear Tom, I wanted to write to tell you how pleased I am with Word Association Publishers and your fantastic team. As you know, you have been publishing my legal advice books for years, and now you are publishing books for attorneys and other businesses all across the United States and Canada. All of these folks have learned that a book is the most powerful business card ever invented. What most do not know is how easy you make it for any business owner to become the respected authority in their field by writing a book. I would highly recommend that any business owner who recognizes the value in having a book published schedule a short consultation with you so that you can explain to them how even a bunch of very, very busy lawyers has been able to become the respected authorities in their fields and in their locations. Again, thank you for helping me be able to turn ideas into books in a matter of weeks, not months.:
