The Reverend Dr. George O. Elgin served over 20 years in the U.S. Army, most of that time as an Army Chaplain. He also served the Church for many years as a Methodist Pastor. He has enjoyed a long, stable, and happy marriage with his wife, Lucy. They have five adult children and several wonderful grandchildren.
Dr. Elgin has been a life-long learner and teacher. Over the years, he taught Philosophy, Psychology, Sociology and Religion as an adjunct professor for several colleges. He has taught a multitude of short-term classes on Bible Study, Personal Growth, Organizational Development and Dream Interpretation. His life goal has been to help people through education, guidance and counseling, enabling them to fulfill their mission to make the world a better place.
In this book, Dr. Elgin struggles to reconcile the incongruities and cognitive dissonance he has observed in Christian teachings and practice. One of his theological themes is “Never worship a God who is not at least as good and kind as you are.” He believes that the hope for the human family is active, loving behavior, as taught and demonstrated in the life and teachings of Jesus.
