Jeremiah Camara has been engaged in the art of poetry since childhood. His greatest influences are Langston Hughes, Sonia Sanchez, George Gershwin, and Gil Scott-Heron. Also a songwriter and musician, he studied the flute at the University of Cincinnati Conservatory of Music.
"...extraordinarily candid and intelligent. Each piece conveys a potent openness which enables the reader to experience the passion that the poet fervently expresses. It boldly confronts contemporary social issues, yet proves very entertaining and sincere as well."
"Vivacious imagery coupled with thought-provoking ideas create an uninhibited volume of stunning poetry. This collection is reminiscent of Walt Whitman in that it challenges contemporary thought and rejects the normal standards of style. The variety of rhyme and rhythm patterns accurately reflect the action of the poetry."
American Literary Press Incorporated
"strong, honest and powerful writer whose images cut through you like a knife...His vivid and often explicit style is used deliberately to open our eyes to the injustices and inhumanity of our world. This provocative collection is highly recommended for high dramatic interest, poetic craftsmanship, and meaty subject matter."
Carlton Press Corp.
"an expressive collection of poetry offering gritty reflections from an uncommon perspective."
In "a grim affair" the poet uses earthly imagery and a crisp cadence to relay the signs and describe the deterioration of a relationship in which one partner is unfaithful:
blush on collar
diminishing dollar
showers increasing
kisses ceasing
drama's swelling
rat is smelling
wind is humming
reapers coming
