Gina Datres graduated from The Art Institute of Pittsburgh with high honors and went on to complete a year-long study of typography and design in Switzerland.
Gina has been a professional graphic designer for over 30 years. She began her career as a children’s illustrator for PicturePages (CBS), an educational segment on the Captain Kangaroo Show hosted by Bill Cosby. From there, Gina went on to work for some of Pittsburgh’s premier design firms, honing her skills in layout, design, typography and art direction of photography.
Her work has been published in Print Magazine, Graphis, and Communication Arts, and was featured in an annual exhibition of The Society of Illustrators in New York.
Gina is a favorite with authors who are looking for strong visual concepts. Her book cover designs and fresh interiors get rave reviews. Gina has a love for old movies, drive in theatres, and she can’t pass up an estate sale or flea market. She also sews, draws, and creates wildly imaginative toys.
Gina, her husband Jimmy, and their daughter Cristina aren’t typical beach or resort vacationers. They love to visit urban settings. So far, their favorite city is New Orleans.
