THE ROBERT GALE COLLECTION Robert Lee Gale was born in Iowa, graduated from Dartmouth College in 1942 and from Columbia University in 1952. In between, he served in the United States Army Air Force from 1942 to 1946, in the United States, England, and France, and briefly in North Africa and Italy. He taught classes in American literature in the United States, Italy, and Canada. He has published widely, including books with Word Association Publishers on works by George Washington Cable, Walter Van Tilburg Clark, Robinson Jeffers, Norman McClean, D’Arcy McNickle, Anita Loos, Frank Norris, Dorothy Parker, Jack Schaeffer, James Welch, and Nathanael West. Retired from the University of Pittsburgh, Gale now lives in Pittsburgh.
